How is this working for you? I want to know what's helping, what's missing, and what could be better. You can find my email in the Help button below.
We tend to overestimate the potential harm or damage of a decision and assume the worst. That’s part of human nature, but it can be harmful if we let those fears guide our decisions.
Reality Testing can help you figure out how rational or grounded your fears might be.
You don’t have to think up all your biggest fears at once, just come here when something in your relationships scares you and see how it holds up to reality.
Here are some examples to help you get started:
He made a joke and that made me uncomfortable, and I’m scared he’ll call me ‘too sensitive’ if I say something
She hasn't texted me back today – I’m nervous she’s forgetting about me
I'm thinking about leaving my relationship, but everyone will hate me and I’ll be a failure.
I don’t think I’m good enough for her. I’m not sure what I’m scared of, but I’m scared
I’m not getting my needs met, but I’m afraid to ask for them and sound needy.
The point isn't to decide whether a fear is right or wrong. It's to slow it down, break it apart, and see what the evidence actually supports.
Reality testing is comparing your subjective experience with objective, knowable information. Using emotions and beliefs as evidence will almost always work against you.
The goal isn't to prove yourself wrong. It's to help you think more critically before acting or deciding.
Write honestly. Don't worry about spelling, grammar, or getting the details exactly right. If you're feeling emotional, that's okay. This tool is designed to help you untangle your thoughts, not judge them.
Skip it. Some questions are meant to get you thinking, not to have perfect answers. Only a few steps are required.
There's a sample belief card in your list. It's fully filled out so you can see how the tool works.
I built this myself and genuinely want to know what's working, what's not, and what ideas could make it better.
